Learning to solve a Rubik’s Cube can be exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.

Cubing teaches students how to work through problems, learn from mistakes, and keep going when something doesn’t work the first time.

Once the basics are mastered, however, knowing how to keep improving can become much harder. Many cubers eventually reach a plateau and are unsure what they should practise next.

At Spark Cubing, our classes are designed to make learning fun while helping students build their skills step by step.

Our students are coached by experienced competitive cubers, including record holders, world top-10 competitors, and regular podium finishers at Australian competitions.

Whether your child has never solved a cube before or is already working towards a faster personal best, our coaches will meet them at their current level, identify exactly what they need to improve, and provide a clear pathway for continued progress.

Choose Your Trial Experience

We offer two flexible ways to experience Spark Cubing coaching before committing to a full program.

Free In-Person Trial Class

• Location: Spark Education Melbourne campuses — Balwyn and Waverley

• Format: Small-group cubing workshop with approximately 2–6 students

• Experience: Hands-on guidance and personalised feedback from an experienced cubing coach

• Cost: FREE

Our small-group format allows students to learn alongside other cubers while still receiving individual attention from the coach.

Online 1-on-1 Trial Class

• Location: Live online video lesson

• Format: Personalised 25-minute private cubing session

• Experience: The coach will assess the student’s current ability, goals, strengths, and areas for improvement before introducing suitable techniques and next steps

• Cost: $40 AUD

The online trial is ideal for students who want personalised coaching from anywhere in Australia, New Zealand, or internationally.

Beginner

• Understand how the Rubik’s Cube works and learn about its different pieces

• Learn the steps needed to solve your first cube

• Develop basic turning and handling skills

• Discover simple tips and shortcuts that make solving easier

Intermediate

• Learn the fundamentals of speedcubing

• Improve solving efficiency and turning technique

• Reduce unnecessary moves and pauses

• Begin learning faster solving methods and algorithms

• Explore additional puzzles such as the 4x4

Advanced

• Refine advanced speedcubing techniques

• Improve efficiency, recognition, turning speed, and lookahead

• Identify weaknesses that may be limiting further improvement

• Develop more structured and targeted practice routines

• Explore more challenging puzzles such as Megaminx, 5x5, and other competitive events
